Red Lights

As I escape the red lights
I see the crescent moon fading behind the clouds,
just as I thought I was left in utter darkness,
I look to my side and see a beautiful dim light shining.
A fragile light with thin glass and tiny cracks that must be handled with caution and care,
a light that can break at any moment....
this light will shine bright again.

Red Lights was written from a moment of quiet knowing. It’s about seeing someone in transition, caught between who they’ve been and who they’re trying to become. The red lights represent pause, not recklessness, a moment where movement stops and truth becomes visible. This poem isn’t about escape or indulgence, but about recognizing fragility with compassion, and believing that even dim light carries the promise of becoming whole again. Have you ever seen someone clearly in a moment when they couldn’t yet see themselves? What does it mean to witness someone without trying to fix them?
