Notes About The Poem

Red Hearts

"Red Hearts"

In black and white,
openings
and dead ends abound;

Words read.
Hearts read.

What matter the colours
of skin and minds now?
The best of us
sat in hell.
Take consolation in that -

He made His way out,
for us, for Himself.

A Poet-Prophet - no doubt,
lessons in complexity,
embedded deep,
forgotten by most of such belief.
Isolated and removed, we try hard,
we try our best to follow
like hungry sheep.

You’re in good company now.
Aren’t you?
You’re in good company now?
The best of us
has sat in hell,
He,
made His way out.

We look inward daily
at our self-imposed rituals,
each word hung on a line -
dissolving into a wall, we're just residuals.
Our reflections mirrored in the all-seeing power,
the paler shadows cast outward
from our removed selves, where –

Love casts its spells.
Love will always cast its spells.

Blind eyes turn away,
laughing it all out loud
like simple jokes needing to be expelled.
Blind eyes turn away.
What is past is forgotten here,
in the mostly untarnished always.

Hearts hearing truth
will tell it as it is –
always.

Without hesitation, without doubt,
they cast their spells out loud.
Their words speak truth, bleeding,
swimming like salmon upstream,
just as they are –
alone, unclouded, would-be poets
with muddled hearts up in the clouds,

watching for their Shining North Star
amongst all the falling stars.

We look inward, some of us,
for the meaning of who we truly are.
It seems so close, yet removed, so far;
We make our way out,
in the end, somehow.
Words read.
Hearts read.

Love
has the strongest power,
somehow.

Love
is what is needed most.
When delivered without proof –

unconditional,
Love will always save us.

This could hurt…

pierced hearts are read here,
bleeding strong power.

“Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? Because this storm isn't something that blew in from far away, something that has nothing to do with you.

This storm is you. Something inside of you. So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up your ears so the sand doesn't get in, and walk through it, step by step. There's no sun there, no moon, no direction, no sense of time. Just fine white sand swirling up into the sky like pulverized bones. That's the kind of sandstorm you need to imagine.

And you really will have to make it through that violent, metaphysical, symbolic storm. No matter how metaphysical or symbolic it might be, make no mistake about it: it will cut through flesh like a thousand razor blades. People will bleed there, and you will bleed too. Hot, red blood. You'll catch that blood in your hands, your own blood and the blood of others.

And once the storm is over you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what this storm's all about.” (Haruki Murakami, "Kafka on the Shore")

We all have our own reasons for writing our stories, whether one is deemed a poet/writer or not. We are all authors of our own failures and triumphs. High intuitives/strong empaths will understand that more thoroughly than most. I think those Grand Masters in possession of a Selectric impressed upon their loved ones, the value of words, more than they could have ever imagined. I love all your short stories, very much. Keep writing your path. Keep writing your legacy. Believe in yourself, always. Xx

We are all gifted here, dear Paige, including those who think they are not. In one way or another, the Poetic is seen, and heard, in all of us. Xx
