Red Dress
The Bar has just called time
and he's spent what was his last dime
Ladies and gentleman please,
Continue to mutter outside in the gutter
Scarf and Hat , its time to leave,
Walk through the streets , encounter the deadbeats
To his place in this town that should have been knocked down
Unlock's the door pulls back the bolt
Nothing worth taking , so why so painstaking
His pride has been battered and his memories shattered
No charity taken , and be not mistaken
We put him there , its our cross to bear
Straightens her picture , then tells her hell miss her
Lips smudged on the glass his tears soon will pass
Puts on the kettle and begins to settle
In for the night so turn off the light
Good night god bless
To dream the lady of the Red dress.
