Recovery Or Something Like It

Life started out happy and an event changed the course of my universe, before I knew what, the usual childhood illness came and went. No lasting impairments held me back, I knew I was young and could invent myself, and work my way into a better situation, as needed. A careless remark can change your perspective, your outlook on life. Words can cut to the heart and leave a lasting open festering wound. One word placed sharply before a young and tender heart, creates a new path, the worldly way. Left with guilt and shame, recovery is an ongoing process, daily seek guidance and make a conscious effort to overcome the hurt in a girl's heart. I don't know if I will ever be wholely recovered, but I seek completeness.
