Notes About The Poem

Recipe for Disaster

I came upon a poem cooking book.
Shall we open it up and have a look?

You ask, how does one, a fair sonnet, write?
A good broth has love, be it false or true,
and when your sweetheart kicks you out at night,
note - roses are red and violets, blue.

Or, perhaps, you might take another tack.
With a face like yours, I humbly suggest -
    consider Cyrano de Bergerac.
Let your friend read it. They'll cook up the rest.

Van Gogh had an approach that was unique.
When he offered his love a slice of ear,
she was so affected she couldn't speak,
though his ear doctor said he couldn't hear.

You'll find that these approaches all work great,
but you must duck when sweety throws a plate.
