Reality

Daddy left you for dead
Mamma says its all in your head

But the suffering is more than what they know
So you just slit your skin and not let it show

You let boys play with your heart
And rip your world apart

Your friends say you are only stressed
But in reality you are very depressed

You burn the fresh cuts to stop infection
And you do everything without protection

Tears fall from your eyes
As you murmur your final goodbyes

Your life was taken by a knife
Cause you were always a lowlife

People may think this path is immoral
But in this world, this is now normal.

The harsh truth is the monster inside the minds of a teenager
Are ignored and for some reason failing a class is a bigger danger

This is our reality
And it is nothing but brutality

This is a powerful insight into self harm and suicide, sadly more prevalent nowadays. Great work, Jo. Welcome to Poetry Soup. Enjoy your time here with your fellow wordsmiths. Viv
