Thanks to the Consumer Fairness Protection Bureau, established under President Obama's watch, this kind of horror story doesn't happen too often anymore...

The Johnson's found the house they'd dreamed about They signed the papers happy as could be But when they read the find print, they did shout Their interest rate balloon they hadn't seen They tried to sell the house, but had no luck So with a higher payment they were stuck The Johnson's learned that 'love is blind' applies To those who build their castles in the sky (Iambic Pentameter)

It is crazy to me how fast people sign papers without reading the small print. Which reminds me. I had something notarized yesterday, and I did not read one thing except the sign in line. Trusting my husband. Hmmmmmm

Yes. We trust the brief disclosure section and/or the salesperson's assurances. Bad idea! Caveat emptor!! ~ Gershon

Somehow I wasn't clear. Mr. Obama helped people like the Johnson's by backing the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, which forced lenders to provide clear mortgage agreements in plain, understandable English. But you're right. The Johnson's didn't benefit; others did, however :) gw
