Rat-A-Tat-Tat

When a jackhammer’s outside your door
It’s a sound that you cannot ignore.
You can’t focus or think
And your brain’s on the brink
Of a meltdown, like never before.

For the rat-a-tat-rat-a-tat noise
Is a sound that not merely annoys.
It gets under your skin
‘Til it seems like it’s been
Always there, as your mind it destroys.

Now a city existence has quirks
And though quiet’s not one of its perks,
There are limits to what
We can take, but it’s not
Constant rat-a-tat-tatting that irks!

great meter and content as always, Ilene. Maybe you need some really good ear plugs but I guess if you need to be awake, there is just nothing to do except grin and bear it.

That rat-a-tat-tat reminds me of a woodpecker I used to have, only on speed! Thank you for the reminder.

Earplugs won't contain vibrations, but Jeff is right in that woodpeckers are just as annoying! Enjoyed, Ilene! Aloha!

Brings up a funny image - we have many pileated woodpeckers out here - perhaps they are the original angry birds, mad because they are city mice who got left in the country, taking it out on everyone else, ha!

Lol, it's like a Chinese water torture, I'd invest in some good ear plugs. Tom
