Rainy Day Carpe Diem
Though the wind comes from the far north,
whips your cheeks, ruffles your wet clothes,
so you cower shoulders to ears
within your coat, warm coat, safe coat,
take heart from sea fresh oxygen
and your blood surging strong, alive.
Yes, live, take spatter on forehead
cold snaking finds wool clothes blocking.
Trees wave, feet can find splash and crash
ducks always find a wet wallow.
So can you. Imagine a beach
refuge with solar heat ablaze.
Soon tulips dance, daffodils bow
violets bob, obey the call
to primal needs of nature's walk.
There's homage in a walk, step, beat,
song in rainfall, heat in home hearth.
Upon return, stamp freeze from toes.
Your nerves settle down with rain song.
Sing rain song while fire blooms cheeks.
