Rains

8-12 Lines – Wind, Rain, Snow, Thunder or Sun – 3-22-24 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rains Each season knows your names. Vernal vixen splendor rides in misty cloud ships Solstice downpour impregnates fertile blue fields Your sheaves of rain call you autumnal, Platinum queen, you dance the frozen fandango. Your crystal pearls you drape on empty branches And wrap the dawn and dusk in a silver scarf As weathervanes spin in your tempest’s tantrums. You creep across the sky disguised in wispy veils, Tiptoeing into place, then open wide your space The blazing daystar joins with you, teasing minx, Conceiving rainbows.

No poem of yours is like any other poem on the subject. Your images are so creative and original. Love their uniqueness, dear Sam. "Your crystal pearls you drape on empty branches And wrap the dawn and dusk in a silver scarf". Wow .... I love it! "Platinum queen, you dance the frozen fandango." (Fandango is a word totally new to me.) Another line of amazing beauty. All the Best sweet friend.

Dear samszy, you amaze me with your way of writing and weaving words together, another one that left me in awe speechless, i like your depiction of rain, and how artistic, and fun you got with it, especially loved the lines “ As weathervanes spin in your tempest’s tantrums.” “ You creep across the sky disguised in wispy veils, Tiptoeing into place, then open wide your space“ love it! And so well delivered! I think yours is very unique also love the alliterations and your diction, Best wishes

This is great personification and I like how throughout the poem, it employs vivid imagery to depict the transformative power of spring, such as "crystal pearls" draped on empty branches and dawn and dusk wrapped in a "silver scarf." The personification of spring as a teasing minx, conceiving rainbows with the "blazing daystar," adds a playful and whimsical element to the poem.

Hi SO! I am so happy that you enjoyed this whimsical walk in the rain! Rain has such a magical quality for me as a child of the pacific NW having spent many an afternoon watching raindrops transform the world outside my window. Delighted that sense of wonder came through to you! Thank you so much for your delightful feedback! Sending you Easter season blessings and my gratitude..

a unique approach to the contest prompt, but I like it. Your imagery was outstanding and descriptive of rain. I liked: 'your crystal pears you drape on empty branches.' I liked the ending too, "conceiving rainbows." Nicely done. Have a great evening, Sara

Hi Sara! Thank you so much for your lovely words of compliment! They are like rain in the desert! Having grown up in the NW "rain" seemed a perfect theme. I used to love to watch raindrops transform the world around me into a fantasy land. Even now I love to sit and watch the rain! Every rainstorm seems to have a distinct personality! Hope you are having a wonderful day. Easter season blessings to you!
