Raining
It is raining outside.
I can hear the drops on the roof.
They are loud,
and getting louder all the time.
My heart seems to beat faster,
with the rhythm of the storm,
coming down all around.
I rise and go to the window.
I can not even see now... across the yard.
The water is pooling and soon flooding,
the world I once knew as home,
now a different place altogether,
an island...
surrounded by
a growing inland sea.
Noah had an ark,
and was ready.
I can only pray...
but somehow,
I know,
that will be enough,
to be okay,
this day...
and all the rest
as well.
Amen.
