This particular selection, entitled:  "Rainbow" is an ABAB rhymed poem. It is, in a sense, a type of follow-on piece to the "Cosmic Dust" poem I posted last month. Given the topic/theme, this one is centric to good old planet Earth, but begs God's anticipated participation in ethereal aspects associated with the metaphor of the Rainbow. I hope that you enjoy this unique selection of work. I certainly solicit any comments that you might have. Thanks!!  (Gary Bateman - September 2, 2014)

A rainbow forms and blooms bright after the rain Finishing its task of wetting, replenishing the Earth, As part of God’s plan to ease Mother Nature’s pain And give our home, our planet a moment’s rebirth. A rainbow is really God’s gracious smile at rain’s end, And when you think about it, it occurs in perfect rhythm So all can see and marvel at its splendor at storm’s end, And tho’ its time is fleeting, its image is God’s prism. A rainbow is always God’s promise and divine intention, To help people pause and focus on a dazzling colored array Tinted and formed in a picture perfect image and conception, To help them relax, reflect on what’s important on a given day. A rainbow is a noble and sublime reflection of God’s selection Of wonderful images from Heaven brought to our mortal plane, For a moment’s majestic gaze at this image of God’s conception So people can seek a moment’s happiness and a surcease of pain. You get deeper and deeper each stanza downward. Love it! The third stanza is really pleasant and stood out to me the most. That last line too is noteworthy. All 7's in these comments! Always, Laura

Thanks Laura (again) for the deep read here. I'm actually planning another "Rainbow" poem in the future: "The Rainbow's Magic." It's on my to-do list with a jillion other topics I've got planned. The cosmic and ethereal writes are always special. And thanks for the 7's!! Best Always, Gary

Your rainbow poems sings my friend. I wrote one here a few months ago. I was in an inspired mood and decided to not write simple as is my normal cultivated style. Love yours my friend. Message and flow is great. A 7 for sure...

Hello Robert!! Thanks for your review here of "Rainbow." My wife likes these kinds of writes, similar to one I did on "Cosmic Dust." I did read your "Rainbow" too and commented on it. I knew the narrative was more complex compared to how you normally prefer to write, but I did like it a lot. I tend to vary the tenor of my writes based on how I feel at the time. Best Always! Gary

Gary, your poem is like a soothing downpour after a day of intense Indian summer. I particularly like the expression "And tho' its time is fleeting, its image is god's prism." Thanks for your kind remarks on my work.

Stunning imagery Gary -I particularly adore the line 'A rainbow is really God’s gracious smile at rain’s end' and will always think of this poem when I see a rainbow. Rainbows are special I have a rainbow sapphire ring and necklace - they too make me smile when I wear them! Hugs Jan xxx

Very glad you liked it Barbara. I really enjoyed writing this poem. Definitely a lighter, more spiritual piece compared to some of the prior "heavies" I posted. As I mentioned above to Jan, I wrote this today for my wife Ingrid and as a present for our upcoming 23rd wedding anniversary. Best Wishes, Gary
