Rain and Snow

A snowstorm was predicted But the city just got rain, Although, at first, some snowflakes Landed on each window pane. They disappeared in seconds But just thirty miles away, My son had several inches, Perfect for some snowball play. My grandkids did some sledding And were thrilled to have the chance To coast down hills within their park’s Fresh snow-covered expanse. I didn’t miss the hassles – Digging out the car and such, But I’m glad the suburbs had a taste Of Jack Frost’s snowy touch.

We had snow, rain and two hours of hail in Westerly! The snow amounted to less than 2 inches, but scraping off the hail from my car and its windows nearly did me in! / Maurice

It's amazing how the weather can be so different in other places quite close to home, we find the same on our Island, it can be 4 seasons in one day if we travel to the North of the island . I think you were lucky to observe a few snowflakes but not have the inconvenience of a real heavy snow fall:-) hugs Jan xx

Ah… snow… don’t you just love it… when it has the decency to be thirty miles away. I’m not really a killjoy… but I’ve seen too much snow turn to too much slush. Thank goodness that some, such as yourself, still see the fun. A lovely snowy write, Ilene, Terry

Nice penning Ilene, snow can be fun at times but it's the mess the rain leaves when the snow melts. I really liked your rhyme and flow. Have a blessed 2024, Gordon

A poem that touches all of us who are having a white January. It's a problem now but I'll drink to the snow this summer
