Rabbits and Snowmen

The rabbit and the snowman
	share an overlap of time.
It is that undefined moment between
winter’s end and start of spring.
The seconds of illusive cold and warm
	when the ground becomes supple
and bulbs of crocus and daffodils
play peek a boo with the sun.
The snow gives way reluctantly
	from hidden burrows below.
They eye each other for the signals
	that time gives in willingly
to the changing of the world around.
