Quiver

Once when I was young and quite obsessed with a handsome boy whose heart I wished that I possessed, I caught that young man unexpectedly (his eyes mysterious and dark) staring straight at me! Oh, how very beautiful he was. I'm sure that in that moment I must have blushed because seeing him, I wished for just a sliver of his heart! Just his long gaze could make me quiver! Magic happened each time I met his gaze. He'd leave my workplace; I'd be left in a happy daze! Day after day that boy would appear. My heart would always quicken when he was near. Finally he asked me for a date! Perfect kisses through the night - such a blissful fate. How wonderfully did that boy deliver all that I could ever want to make me quiver! We had next door neighbors in Zambia who were Scots, their eldest son and I both 16, madly in love - they were planning to immigrate to Scotland, but Peter would not leave, unless he married me. Our parents, both mine and his, explained this just could not be done, I was in my GCE O level year and then going to Rhodesia to do my A levels. We were both heart broken, puppy love, one thinks they will die but we both survived. Love your poem Andrea. Blessings, hugs, Jenn.

Indeed, a wonderful experience, which I think, in our culture it's taboo for a girl to be so. You're lucky. It's a very beautiful poem full of feelings and free-flowing words and images.

It's fun to remember old flames and how exciting it was when young. However these memories always make me remember an old saying, "Camp fires in the forest burn brightly and then burn out but hearth fires last longer and are much warmer." Well done Andrea. God Bless, JB
