“Quills”



he sent 
paper planes over 
air waves

dodging 
silver bullet’s brain
some kind of feathery love

poetic sword
plucking at 
the tight-stitched up

like John Donne
unlacing amuse 
voluptuous

for that harmonious chime

Robert Lindley January 18, 2022 at 3:07 AM John Donne is by and large a forgotten poet. Yet his mastery of his Art was magnificent. Poets would do well to read Donne because much wisdom lies within his many verses. "Let thy pen its fire explode. Wherein thy true heart demands. Love in its heaviest load.
