Quiet Times

When my words are quiet
and yours are few,
we will speak
in tender glances
with a touch of hands
joining one to the other.

Kindred hearts know
every gulf can be spanned
and every gap can be bridged,
even in silence.

The stillness of our souls
reflects the depth
of my serenity in you
and yours in me;
upon life’s river,
we will always sail
together.

a thoughtful expression of what I call 'mature' love and companionship

Hi Sara, you are correct, it is as you describe. It is that indeed, but so much more as well. I wish everyone could experience it. I'm glad you enjoyed this poem. Thank you! Ron
