Quiet Promise of Dawn

Written: December 25, 2025, for contest by Line Gauthier ************** The wind's gentle caress fades into stillness, the initial glow of dawn paints the sky. Every sound, a slight whisper, begins to stir, and the dawn beckons the earth to be alive. These sounds herald a promise for the planet, a renewed sense of dread creeps into the day.

Lasaad/SP, congrats on your win! I've often watched night turn into day. Your poem describes it well. Too bad the "dread creeps into" stated in your last line is real. As the world in general, sadly & reversibly, continues to lose a real commitment to rigorously objective truth (vs. superficiality over substance) & common sense, decency, & courtesy, each day brings a sense of dread even within the promise of a new day & all its possibilities & potential. Sigh... Thanks for being honest. Best, BW

Yes, Lasaad, each new dawn offers promise of all being made right in the world, but it seems it is going downhill. I like your poem though. Thank you for sharing it with us. It reads like a good contender to me for the contest. Way to go. Sara K
