Quick To Forget

For a couple of weeks
the phone calls and cards
expressed sympathies
As suddenly as death itself
they stopped
For the next year or so
things reminded me of her
A favorite song on the radio
Someone would cook a dish she liked

Now I only remember her twice a year
On her birthday I tweet she would’ve been 104
Happy Birthday in Heaven mother
do they have birthdays in Heaven
On the anniversary of her death
I post how I miss her
quickly scrolling to the next newsfeed
Oh look… tiny goats.

- I will never forget my mother (who lives in heaven) ... I think of her often ... sometimes I want to call her ... but, no phone in heaven ... but, I wish :) - Great poem, Jerry...never forget your mother - hugs

So right. If I could only hug her one more time.

A thought provoking piece, Jerry, reminding us that no one much cares to remember death. Easier, it is, to turn our attention elsewhere. Good poem!

Sad, but true. It seems that nothing holds our attention for very long anymore. Thanks for reading. Have a great day my friend.

I don't look forward to it. or not even writing about it. I know heaven is her goal but still......

My best advice is to make sure they know how much you love them before it's too late. Thanks for dropping by my friend. Have a great day.
