Questions In the Mirror

How can I forgive,
    What I can never forget?
Must I abstain from any grace,
            Lying forever in its debt?

Can I turn the other cheek,
Leaving just one side to strike?
                    While accepting suffering & anguish,
                        Without recourse or dislike?

                        Does my judgement grant justice,
                            And relieve all the pain?
Or is it simply a personal folly,
                                    To revive in vain?

When does the steep slope become
                            Level, and easier to walk?
                                Leaving behind a narrow path,
                                    Where now I may talk.

Am I left with endless lines,
                    That must be read in-between?
As if my intellect and intuition,
                            Won't conflict upon the scene?

Then what answers can be found
At this window to the soul?
                Maybe only those of contentment,
                    That allow for some control.
