Questions For a Bully

What is it that makes you so unpleasant Is brusqueness and lack of tact your totem, Or, are you eaten up with anger inside Feel you must treat everyone like a crumb? Why are your communication skills lacking So that you must resort to disgusting inanities? No wonder girlfriends have sent you packing, Not willing to tolerate your gross profanities. Why do you treat others with utter disdain? Does it pleasure you to see someone weep? Why can’t you reconsider, perhaps abstain? You are only bearable when you’re asleep! Someday you will need help from a friend Someone to come to your rescue, indeed, When you look around no one will pretend They’re there for you in your time of need. Uncaring, and full of venomous antagonism The best of all words to describe you is “ugly,” You’ve spent your whole life in hooliganism And you are a nauseous, off-putting bully.

Bullies and hypocrites are the two types of people that push my buttons. Well done.

Thank you, Craig. I'm not too happy with hypocrites either. They'll get their turn with my pen, I'm sure, if they haven't already.

Almost 100 percent of the time a little bully is created by a bigger bully -usually a parent, an older sibling, a neighbor or someone at church.

You know, Caren, I didn't realize that. As I think about it, it makes perfect sense. Sometimes they are mimicking the behavior of some older person they admire. They think it's the right thing to do because Grandpa or Papa or Uncle Ed does it. Yes! Caren, you need to work this into a poem, because it needs wider dissemination. So instructive! So helpful!

Well said. Deserves to be read by all the bullies of the world, for all the good it would do. Great writing, friend. Have a good one. Bryan

Thank you so much, Bryan. Yes, bullies never seem to listen or learn, much less read a poem like this.

Bullies usually go in groups... I wonder why?

You know, I think it's one of those situations where there is safety in numbers. But, I know a man in his fifties who is a perpetual bully. I had him in mind when I wrote this poem.

Thank you so much, Eve. I really don't either, hence the questions. It seems like they wallow in unhappiness, but perhaps that's only my perception. Still, I can't imagine how such a person could be happy inside.

I doubt you'd get a straight answer Milton, they are usually thick skinned, have a low esteem and get a kick out of bullying others, their motivation is that feeling of power over others. Tom

I'd say you're right, Tom. I suppose I was just wondering if anyone could reach, or change, them. They do not leave any space in their lives for love, it seems to me.
