Quest For Peace
I live within this territory that used to graciously bid
well to the inhabitants that compliment the best in nature,
This global environment is not unified between man and beast
nor are they destined to be so.
Once our land was of fruit and honey
Now taken away for prosperity and money
We had the space, boundless miles to roam
Our kin settled first, under this wide dome
Now this land is barely ours
My forest is thin, I see no flowers
The streams are shallow, the meadows are bare
I’m looking for peace, I do not know where.
I hear unfamiliar sounds that are not free
Danger rings, a need to flee
In the past I never doubted my fate
Life now is not great.
My freedom is torn, my visions bring fear
I see this domicile’s end is coming near
Grasslands were taken to benefit mankind
Not much here that was left behind.
I used to frolic and have lots of fun
Now I’m scared and on the run
Life was a joy being out in the clear
My home is gone; I’m only a young deer
