One day out in the country I was led
by an old pathway to a hidden place
with honeyed scent from a wild garden bed
where ruffled blooms reached toward the sky with grace.
My spirit lifted too from sheer delight.
Dew glistened on each sweet pea’s pretty head.
How beautiful that scene in sun so bright -
green grass and blossoms in purple and red!
