Pythagoras

Pythagoras was a mathematician. He taught mathematics in ancient Greece. He created a now-famous theorem. You can bisect a rectangle or square. Draw a line between opposite corners. This will result in two right triangles. The two sides opposite each right angle are commonly called a “hypotenuse“. The sum of the squares of the base and height, equal the square of the hypotenuse.

An enjoyable piece, with perhaps a couple of easily fixed errors: first, a rectangle or a square may be "bisected" in a manner that does not result in two triangles (you would need to specify that they be bisected from opposing corners); second, you write: "the side opposite each right triangle,/ is commonly called a 'hypotenuse'" --I think you meant to write "the side opposite each right angle" instead...overall, a clever piece. And you do not need the comma you asked Russell about. Good luck in the contest.

You have supplied me with the most helpful comment I have ever received for any of my submitted poems. I followed your advice and made your suggested changes. Adding a tenth line gives this work a "decimal" quality. This is much appreciated.

You did however miss a punctuation on the line, "The side opposite each right triangle", you may want to fix that if this is for the contest.

Russell, are you saying I need a comma at the end of the line?

What a brilliant write this is! I love how you brought "the theorem" into light! You described each part rather well! You did well with the narrative form! You'll do well in the contest! Awesome Work!!
