Put Away the Tree

The time has come to put away the tree.
Her Christmas charm has faded over time.
A month ago she greeted all with glee.
Now she appears the victim of a crime!
Disheveled lights and ornaments agree,
the tree tells us she’s tired in pantomime.
Because we’re sure to miss her tinseled glow,
I say this year we keep the mistletoe!

The 6th January is a Greek holiday and is celebrated - This holiday - Phos meaning light, is when harbors light up their boats, people leave their house lights on, and some with the name of Photi or Photini are wished a happy name day. This is also the day when we we take down our Christmas Tree, as it marks the end of the Christmas Season - We celebrate the THE LIGHT OF JESUS, THE SON OF GOD ON EARTH. Wonderfully penned. WE ARE CELEBRATING THIS DAY WITH OUR SON AND HIS WIFE, AS WE WERE AWAY, A VERY APT DAY FOR US TO END THE CHRISTMAS SEASON. Love and blessings my friend, JENNIFER.

My tree is down and has been since New Year's Day, unfortunately, I still have my grandchildren's gifts still sitting where the tree was (lol) They had a cold, then I had a cold...and you know how it goes. Happy New Year, P.S. Hugs Charlie

We keep an image of our Christmas tree from way back with our first born on our computer screen just to remind us of the joy of Christmas. Love Christmas always will. We have our own traditions, built on the back of what we did when we were kids. We all have signature dishes and at least one new dish. I am a New Year Baby.or was in 54.

Yes, our traditions have their roots in our childhoods—even though they do change. This year I made a dish my great grandmother made—with my grandchildren at the table! -ps

this is SO clever!!! I have a unique thing I do. My tree is not too small, but it's small enough that I can pick it up from the middle and the bottom parts and carry it, bulbs and all, into spare bedroom, where I cover it with a sheet. TA DA. Next year, I just bring it back out and tidy up any branches that got bent wrong or ornaments that fell off! It looks kinda like a ghost in that bedroom!!

Oh, me! I'm sitting here looking at my brightly lit tree, and I know it's time to put her away! This is very skillfully-written, P. S. Janice

Mine is still up, too! I say leave it up at least till the 6th-Epiphany. Or heck, leave it up and decorate for each new holiday! -ps

I saw on the news that people can rent live Christmas trees which, upon return, are replanted for next year . . . . recycling at its best . . . Hau'oli makahiki hou! Aloha!

Mine is ready to be taken down! Two granddaughters have done their best to redecorate, etc. All the candy canes are in one spot... there are hooks strewn about... I will miss the lights though :) ~ps

There is something a little sad about taking down the Christmas tree, but she will resume her 'merry show' next year! Wishing you a happy 2022!
