Notes About The Poem

Pulling the Trigger

PULLING THE TRIGGER

a centrifugal shot
captivating

     officers investigating
     knocking on doors

across the street
silence

     until a single mother
     returns

a siren screams
for two hours

     the coroner
     appears, placid

neighbors nudged
the mother, of one son,

     outside, where oxygen
     could not breathe

where a home, once stood
only walls speak

      neighbors listen
      tenuously

Sounds like something you actually witnessed! And you're a good writer to portray it.

Someone I know did. A sad situation. Thanks, Sunlite!
