Notes About The Poem

Morning Prayer | The Consecrated Woman

Psalm 5 a Morning Prayer For Protection

Like a blanket God so covers me In my head my ears bleed And yet I can see my weaknesses revealed Some evil ones try to constrict me Fowl evil spirits try to convict me Yet still the still small voice that I hear In the new day causes me to speak up speak life And ignore the prey They they're not over me I am over them They speak death they're not a friend I speak life with every word I say The foolish shall not stand in my sight All haters all workers of iniquity stop become a victim to their plight But as for me I will come into the house in the multitude of my merciful Father Throwing myself down at the altar I sing out this new Day prayer for protection I'm pleading to my father to give me righteous direction Lead Me oh Lord and the righteousness Because of my enemies make thy way straight Before my face destroy by them oh God Let them fall by their own counsels Cast them out the multitude of their transgressions For they have rebelled against thee For my Lord will bless the righteous With favor without compassed He is a shield for you for me God is my new day protection
