PROMISES
<>
You promised to love me till death us do part.
I promised I’d always be faithful to you.
Our lives seemed idyllic back then at the start,
As, day-after-day, my deep love for you grew.
Then, right out of the blue, you shattered my heart,
When you told me you’d fallen for someone new.
Now, somebody else wants to promise that stuff.
But I’ve told her once bitten is quite enough.
