Promise Me

Promise me that you wont cry,
When my time comes to say goodbye.

Promise me that my ashes will set free,
Drifting slowley in the endless sea.

Promise me you will always laugh,
While remembering our good times in the past.

Promise me to walk in the night,
Knowing dark is as good as light.

Promise me that you will stay strong,
Never let go, and always hang on.

Promise me that your heart will set free,
For this is not the end, but the begining, of me.

Yes, this is deeply beautiful. I would ask the same of my loved ones too. I try to not dwell on how my mom suffered before she passed, but it is difficult, and I know she would want me to keep a promise like this, too. So, I do my best. Love, Shar

Well, this does not sound very pleasant dear Catherine!? I hope that it is merely a fictions write, in regards to yourself!? It is never good to see sorrow really!!! Yet aside from this, I found a lot depth within this write of yours here~which seemed to come from the place where treasures are held and found~your soul dear!! Smile~I love writers such as this~for in reality, they are so very rare!!? Again, this write not hold truth your life!!?~cont

Catherine, welcome to Poetry Soup. You made a grand debut with this poem. When we truly love someone, we want them to have a wonderful life after our "time comes to say goodbye." My father died in January, and I can hear his voice as I read this! Bless you for sharing, Carolyn
