Prevention Is Better Than Cure

Under the wheel of time
we are in threat
"AIDS" is roaring
like a wild tiger,
jailed in a cage.
Attacking us
with sharp teeth & nail.

We are human beings
we are having a brain
we are having AK-47
But, with extreme poignant
and profound grief,
It is revealed that-
we could not shoot it out
It's a challenge,
it's a threat......

I have seen very close,
People captured by that evil
looking like skeleton
covered with a skin.
It's a curse, It's a sin.
Their eyes are fitted in two pots
containing a glass of tear.
Please don't chide them,
they are shuddering
just with shame and fear.
They are living like a dead body
with no hope and no future.

We are human beings-
we are having truth
we are having trust
Time will come, "AIDS"
you have to hands up,
you have to surrender.
But in my view,
it is better to follow,
"Prevention is better than cure".

This passionate poem expresses the depth of despair so empatheticly Manmath. It is truly written from the heart. I agree about what you have said about prevention. #7

Awareness about such topics is so important, and I am so glad that you have written a poem about it that really addresses it and all the problems associated with it, especially the stigma. Good job :)

As with a lot of global issues such as Aids, once the West has a cure, the rest are forgotten. You are obviously still in the thick of it where you live Mamath. Keep up these wonderful poems so close too your heart.

"We could not shoot it out." Great line. Seems like the insane remedy humans use is to shoot it out. Not aids. Good when a poet has something to say instead of hearts and flowers. Love, daver

A devastating disease. In some places men believe that if they have sex with a virgin they will be cured. There needs to be much education and the world needs to come together to help other countries.

Hey! good one! The rawness and pureness of the lines are choppy and fresh..the beauty of the metaphors and also the comparisons as well as the method how you personified everything is damn good! Have a great day!

gosh, I don't hear much about AIDS anymore. The new drugs are helping so many of its victims in America. It's unfortunate that all the victims cannot have the drugs. But you are VERY right. PRevention is the only way.

LOVE THE MESSAGE OF HAVING COMPASSION FOR THOSE SO SICK. Yes, aids is an epidemic and often the result of living an unclean(morally) lifestyle but still they are human beings deserving of compassion. Keep on writing my friend. Remember, its the heartfelt message that counts most IMHO.
