Pretty and Youth

You,
pretty -
used to be.
Pretty moved out,
kidnapped Youth as well!
AGE, now lives in your house,
she forced your hope-chest curbside.
How dare your birthright forsake you?!
No. Pretty and Youth are not to blame -
what is given will be taken away.

We are able to try new talents (such as poetry) that we were to busy and squirrelly as young people to attempt. We are able to see things in a perspective that has "been around the block a few times", giving us wisdom to avoid previous mistakes, and infuses our counsel and our poetry with experience and empathy. This is the internal beauty.
