Pretty and Youth

You, pretty - used to be. Pretty moved out, kidnapped Youth as well! AGE, now lives in your house, she forced your hope-chest curbside. How dare your birthright forsake you?! No. Pretty and Youth are not to blame - what is given will be taken away. Susan Ashley July 15, 2017 (June 27, 2017)

So true. But age develops two things: talent and wisdom. We are able to try new talents (such as poetry) that we were to busy and squirrelly as young people to attempt. We are able to see things in a perspective that has "been around the block a few times", giving us wisdom to avoid previous mistakes, and infuses our counsel and our poetry with experience and empathy. This is the internal beauty. Wonderful thought-provoking write, my poetic (and wise) friend! ~ John

HI Susan, yes, the years creep up and young and pretty are gone. Yet are they. Does not the true beauty come from the soul. The true beauty is held deep within and age cannot take it. There are many good things about growing old. I would not go back to my youth for any amount of money. I love the content of your write. You shall be a vintage wine, growing in allure as each year does pass. Your soul says, you shall be beautiful always. Have a wonderful saturday. hugs....Mike. XX

Youth & Pretty fight a losing battle. I'm afraid that age shows no mercy, and although it is kinder to some than to others, eventually all have to accept what your final line says, Susan! Perhaps, knowing all this, I should have opened a beauty salon:) ~ Warm regards // paul

Oh, my gosh, have I thought about this! When you have siblings and are referred to 'as the pretty one', what to do when it wears off and meanwhile your brother's still a great athlete and your sister well educated? In my case, you leave your decayed eyesight as is because it is your friend with mirrors. Kidding. This is great and, as you can tell, hit home. You keep hitting my spots, girl ... CayCay
