Preterition
I entered the poetry contest
with a poem of which I was proud.
I had read the rules so carefully
to be certain of what was allowed.
I took my time and edited
the grammar, the flow, and the rhyme.
I checked how fast it was filling,
entering it in plenty of time.
Some of the entered poems I found
and continued to hold up my head,
thinking my poem was just as good
as any of those I had read.
On winner's list, didn't see my name.
Judge had passed by, my poem to fame.
