Pretend

For so many years I thought I was over you But from the moment I heard your voice I already knew We caught up and reminisced on all the good times We fought and cried over all the bad We could pretend it was over But in our hearts, we already knew Until you confirmed your love was with someone else. I tried my hardest to be happy for you I tried my best to be your friend But as much as I tried I knew my heart was living a lie I could only pretend so much I miss your touch I miss all of you Deep inside of me. My heart wants all of you, I can no longer pretend I spend so many years thinking you didn't love me That I wasn't enough of a woman for you But then you told me u love me to Your heart is torn in two. I pretend that the words didn't hurt I pretended I was more than okay But since then I knew I wasn't the same I don't even care to know her name I thought what we shared was enough to bring you home Back to me But I was in denial selfishly. Your heart and home was shared for someone else I can no longer pretend this no longer hurts me I know you may love me but u will never commit to me The distance says it all The writing is on the wall. Why pretend when we both know this is the end We can't say the words goodbye Our feelings we both can't deny. It goes beyond respect you have for her I can pretend not to know the truth She may be the one I wish we were able to a build a family with my daughter and your son I cry at night reaching out for you to hold me But I wake up all alone Your last name will never be mine to call my own I can' no longer pretend I don’t know what else to think But I think we both know you made up your mind If the love's already gone it's not fair to lead me on If your heart's not in it I won't ask you to come back to me I can no longer pretend After all these years, our story has come to a bitter end.
