Prelude To a Scream

You always were the need in me; You end my hate and misery When I hear winds starting to sing, But the chorus serves a prelude to a scream. You always bring the best out of me. You pass it like a dowry, And when I hear you calling in the breeze My silence serves a prelude to a scream. Your echo in my mind keeps me hanging; I know the light has left, but it's still fading. Dreams tumble; water is cascading, But I still see the flare and I am wading. You always were the queen of brevity. Your dances seem to defy gravity, And when I think on what will never be, The silence serves a prelude to a scream. May no one live to take the best of me. I'll live and laugh and smile for this dream. I'll love and I will honor everything, But if I'm brought to harm, then I will scream. Dedicated to Laura Pizzini; Rest in peace, my dear friend.
