Precious Gem
They said you were worthless,
no better than coal,
I would not be jaded,
I could feel your soul.
The diamond in your eyes,
lights up my day,
Your ruby lips brush my face
and wipe my tears away.
Shoulders strong as granite
you shield my pain,
An embracing heart of gold
for me to sustain.
You’re my amethyst that brings me
the sweetest of dreams,
Creativity is roused by your amber gaze,
so it seems,
As rare as alexandrite, I found you,
you are mine.
Coal or diamond, my precious gem
a most wonderful design.
*Dedicated to my husband on our
29th Wedding Anniversary.
