Prayer For a Little Synagogue Stalwart

We are gathered here tonight to worship the one before whom there is no pretense One of our congregants has been stricken Therefore we must direct our hearts to him Together we must ask for healing We must ask the giver of our Torah for mercy for our spiritual brother Shabbat has come Peace enters into our lives Compassion must be our guide this evening As we chant the Sh'ma Our focus should be on one who cannot be present tonight Life is "the dream that flies away" according to the prayerbook Step up and chant fervently For the ultimate power of healing is not in mortal hands Shabbat Shalom

Thank you for your kind words on my poem. Isn't a eulogy when someone has died? The fellow I was writing about is quite ill but still around. Peace & Love Matthew Anish
