Prayer Closet
Claiming Almighty’s favor and His grace
My heart does abide in God’s special place
Where wondrous divine quietude prevails
As faith beholds what miracle entails.
Planned events, though scheduled responsibly
Sometimes are altered very suddenly
Causing despair-angst, confronting my role
Yet tranquil nook welcomes and comforts soul.
When preparation glitches create frown
Bringing distress from the toes toward crown
My frustration pain pressures escalate
Propelling me for prayer altar date.
Super health conscious --- that’s me, I confess
Treating self-welfare with gentle duress
Thus, in getting sick, my body seeks rest
For solitude, replenishing work’s zest.
In being busy midst tasks to fulfill
Adrenalin keeps ascending uphill
I safely hide in fortress that’s peaceful
Secured by the great Lord Who is faithful.
Gripped with warm presence of Christ’s radiance
And the Holy Ghost’s sweet caring guidance
I’m preserved, upheld --- indeed, protected
Joyous, thankful --- sublimely elated.
Reading while meditating the Scriptures
Midst tranquil haven for trust-adventures
I’m taught by the Lord as His studious child
Learning with guided steps, prudently styled.
In my prayer closet, indeed serene
My Saviour meets me, showing glorious scene
Marked by hope, mercy, forgiveness’ bounty
There I bask upon blest truth’s certainty.
* Matthew 6:6 - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
