Prayer
I speak to God in silence without words spoken
and I only hear God when my soul is quiet-
in a silent prayer.
Today, I stood trembling with sorrow
for the hundreds and hundreds who died this day
and the thousands who have died since the pandemic
and the millions who will die all over the world before this ends . . .
(I only hear God when my soul is quiet in silent prayer)
My tears fall and I light a flickering candle
as a symbol of remembrance for the dead.
This pandemic has changed the fabric of this world forever _
My heart is an ocean of grief
and I cannot even go to the park or forest for serenity
it is forbidden . . .
or even go to the one place that will give solace
church . . .
