There are times when I fall down on my knees
To pray to my heavenly Father, my everything
Laying out my heart and soul for Him to see
Certain that He is my one and only true friend
There are times when I sit quietly in a chair
To pray for someone who has requested
A prayer for healing or a second chance
To be the person God has intended them
There are times when I’m driving alone
And a prayer flows from my spirit, with love
Perhaps in the gentleness of a soft breathe
Exhaled toward God’s heavenly throne
There are times when I’m walking along
Filled with awe at the beauty around me
And my lips whisper a soft prayer of hope
For some need to be met with affirmation
There are times when I stand in line at the store
Watching shoppers move to and fro around me
And I see someone who is so obviously poor
That a prayer from my heart goes up right then
There are times when I wake from some dream
And I remember that an old friend was drempt of
So I say a silent prayer for them to be blessed
By the One who gives us all more than we ask for
There are times when I see something in the news
That touches my heart, nearly breaking it in two
And I must murmur a word to the One who knows all
Asking Him to be with that troubled heart’s spirit
There are times when I sit alone in the quiet of my room
And prayers slip from my lips, interceding for someone
A special person who needs to know the glory of God
Is alive and welcoming him or her to believe in eternity
Wherever I am and whatever I am doing, there is the chance
The perfect opportunity – to speak to the One who created me
And give Him my heart’s best – a prayer that praises Him
And worships with all the feelings I can’t express any other way
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)
Pray without ceasing.
