Potatoes and Grit

Sometimes you just have to look him right in the eye
You know!?
Look that potato of life right in the eye
And say
"HEY MAN!
LIFE AIN'T SO BAD!"

Sometimes you just have to wipe away all that grit
You know, the kind that sticks to the soul of your shoe!
You know, the kind that just won't wash off your hands!
You gotta take that rag and dip it,
DEEP INNA CLEANSING JAVEX OF HEAVEN!
       AND SCRUB!
       AND SCRAP THAT GRIT AWAY!

They you can look the potato of life right in the eye
And say
"Hey man!
I'm doing okay!
I'm gonna make it man!
YO!
I'll stand on my own TWO FEET DAMN IT!
AND I'LL MAKE IT OUT OF THIS GARDEN CALLED YOUTH!
I'll BEAT back that farmers HOE!!
And I'll BE!

          The BIGGEST!!

          THE BESTEST!!!

G O D D A M N P O T A T O I C A N B E ! ! ! !

Sometimes you gotta say goodbye to potatoes and grit.
