Postive Gifts and Hidden Treasure

First came Storm Ciara On Sunday the ninth of February She caused total havoc throughout the UK Heavy rain brought serious flooding Her gales so strong brought buildings tumbling Whilst on the Isle of Wight The most southerly tip of England Gusts of ninety seven miles per hour Uncovered a fossil upon earth’s core A Dinosaur footprint from a Therapod Who had strolled along this beach one hundred and thirty million years before Now in the throes of wind and rain Another storm Another name He’s called Storm Dennis Another menace And he has just arrived Brings heavy rain and gale force winds I truly hope we all survive his havoc and devastation But like Storm Ciara he may unearth never before seen hidden treasure Showing even storms leave positive gifts for us all to enjoy and explore at our leisure Written 15th February 2020 Contest Strand No 680 Sponsor Brian Strand HONORABLE MENTION

Congrats on your win Ann in Brian's contest. Heard about the storms--more severe than normal--it takes a very kind person like you to focus on the positive (the footprint) in the midst of adversity of nature.

Oh, lord, Ann! Nature causes both havoc and beauty. Much as humans do in life to one another. God keep you safe. Take no chances, please. California has lost thousands if homes and forestry and animal loss by fires this year. The news in the USA is mum on the storms. I want to know...I even put on the Weather Channel...nothing. Gee. Panagiota and the Napping ^~^

All is well here my dear so no need to panic. Though in some parts of Britain there is so much flooding, which must be horrendous and I really feel for these poor souls. Hoping you and your dear family are ok and of course sweet IRENE ^~^. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Thank you Gordon I hope you and your dear wife are keeping safe too. Hoping the forecast for tomorrow means Dennis will move on by lunchtime, although for many he will be leaving utter devastation behind. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Dennis is causing havoc, not as bad as Ciara, but a lot wetter... I hope you are ok over there... Interesting last stanza, who knows what Dennis may unearth...

Many thanks SO for your comments. I am ok here on the SE coast although just watching the news so many are having to deal with floods, which must be dreadful. Hopefully storm Dennis should be moving on tomorrow, but so many people will take months to get their homes back to normal after the floods devastation. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Loved your story Ann, Hard to picture it was so long ago. Reminded me of the underground lakes in the Messalini caves discovered after the massive earthquake in '47,. Hopefully it will weaken by tomorrow, I bet the waves were quite dramatic where you live. Tom

Glad you enjoyed it Tom, I was fascinated to hear of the footprint discovered after storm Ciara. Yes it has been torrential rain and very windy here, but I have not ventured out, instead I wrote this poem! Keep safe Tom. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Thank you dear Heidi, it is pretty rough out there at the moment, but hopefully it is forecast to be clearing sometime tomorrow. I was so fascinated to read of the Dinasours footprint uncovered by Storm Ciara that it awaken my muse and this was the result. Have a lovely peaceful weekend my friend. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
