Poet's Prayer
P0ET’S PRAYER
set in a quiet back water place
away from all that human’s face
a humble figure takes up a pen
and slowly places it down again
she shuts her eyes looking inward
to spy upon the thought that woos her
speaking softly to the falling snow
she sends these words on the silent flow
oh mighty being where ever you are
at my right hand or beyond a star
please take these words I am about to write
and carry them safely through the night
plant them as seeds in brighter spaces
to grow in the hearts of all the races
give them sight and intuition
to overcome our sad omissions
and let them find love in every phrase
to melt their hearts and change their ways
at this blessed, wondrous time
please gift the soul with my simple rhyme.
