Poetry Unmasked

Like children playing
   games at a park, poetry
   flows inside a heart.
Innocent passion,
   overthrowing desire,
   distorting present.

Time lost within wind,
   growing weary tomorrow,
   lasting through the days.
Writing a lifestyle,
   difficult passion feeding,
   devouring soul.

Thirsting for lasting
    truth beyond outer limits.
Engaging lifeless
   thoughts from within self.
Ignoring present actions,
   imagination.

Lost within one’s self,
   letting reflections control.
Commanding image
   threaten existence
   looming in shadows awake.
Struggling poem.

Love the opening lines and their analogy of poetry in the heart playing like children in a park. Poetry is a self journey we as poets undergo. Sometimes we tap into an unknown realm and write about it, not understanding why. This is a great flow from the faucet of your poetic mind. To me this is like a cloud taking shape, you can't see where it ends or begins, it just transcends into massive thoughts, perhaps swelling into poetic beauty. Great job Nathan, keep up the good work...Raul
