Poetry, Profound

Spookily Bookily
Dramatic apogee
Edgar A. Poe's verses
Death from curses

Quite artistically
characteristically
His poems were renowned
to be profound

Gloomily Doomily
So methodically
he wrote of never more
and sweet Lenore

Poe was positively
Imaginatively
authoring horrid themes
to dire extremes

Foolishly Ghoulishly
Did Poe write lucidly
Now dearly departed
Tell Tale Hearted

Poems were tactical
Anticlimactical
He wrote of misery
and mystery

It took some thought, and the creation of silly words, but it was fun. Thank you for reading me and leaving such a kind message, David.

An excellent synopsis of Poe in all his diversity and capacity for dark writing. Well done with this challenging form; best wishes in the contest, my friend ~ John

Your poetry is profound Jenna, Poe is held in high esteem by many and this poem, although, I don't know much about him, is perfection, breathtaking and what poetry is all about - I applaud you! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Your remarks are very generous, Jennifer. Not all of his poetry is dark. I think you might like quite a few.

Double dactyl -- very facile, Jenna! Poe and Woe surely go pen in hand. Well-crafted! Cheers, Gershon

Thanks, Jan. His work has always intrigued me, though it’s very dark. I’m sure whatever theme you choose, you will do it justice.
