Poetry Once Inspired

Poetry once inspired philosophical exchanges a rational discourse which sought the higher moral grounds of civility paving the way of social change.... But narcissists became the poets self-absorbed demi-gods who corupted poetry till its message was lost in insane metaphor.... Poet what vision can be found When haughty words are roared complicating the simple meaning of poetic verse once whispering shades of love...

You go the core of good poetry. The longer the write, the less interested I am. Some one told me this many moons ago: "Poetry at best suggests." I try never to forget it. Well done.

very true poetry is supposed to open a mind to think. it's not written to make demands...

Yes, some poetry indeed seems written by narcissists! I enjoyed this one.

"When haughty words are roared complicating the simple meaning of poetic verse" Yes, this has been done and many times too. Shame indeed. Poetry allows emotions the chance to be free. A way to be expressive, in the most amazing ways. Words are not meant to hurt, but to heal. Keep your pen flowing my friend. ~ Brandy

Enjoyed your write, very much. I often stop reading a poem, when the words become a stumbling-block: for the poet, trying to make the same old sound different, goes out of his or her way (gleaning the dictionary), deciding at length on encryption as opposed to lucidity. There is no substitute for fresh ideas...and honest, straightforward dialect.
