Poetry Gets Me Through
When the wind blows the sun away
And clouds look as if they are here to stay
I pick up pen and pad to write all day
It helps end my blues when I can sit and play
If life works up some feelings of loss and dismay
Then all around me my house is in decay
I open doors to let in the earths amazing bouquet
Just pen some poetry or write an essay
For its words that help me get though the fray
To let out frustrations that turned me a dull grey
I recall my blessings of life’s miracle cabaret
My magic potion for what comes along my way
