Poetr-E For Dummies

Once, I think, you said to me
That poets are like the sand in the sea
But each grain plays a part in that ocean
To set each wave in motion.
Taste this
Little oasis
So you feel
The appeal.
Listen, my friend, to know what we are
How writing, in rhythm, does take us far
Every word takes our soul on vacation
To the culture of a new nation
We are open
When broken
For we know
How to grow.
Open your eyes, and you will see
That though we are like sand in the sea
Our work is parchment coated in emery,
Every word a recorded memory.

A creative, alphabetic, rhythmic, lexical gem of a rhyme. Well done Juli-.

OK, I just read your poem now and WOW, I love your approach. I am seeing so many amazing poems about the story of poetry. Wish I could come up with a 'hook" for this one. It's a great topic.

Hi, Julile. So nice hearing from you. So you will go into elementary ed? I graduated in a Spanish teaching major with ESL minor. This was eons ago. hahaha. Back before the 80's. So my teaching certificate finally expired from me not teaching in a "certified" ESL school. Now that my school has been certified, maybe I can get my certificate renewed again.I teach adults in a private school. Not very good pay but better than minimum wage at least!!

Hi, Julie, Thanks for reading my stuff. This dummy likes your work. Yep. We are like "sand in the sea," But aint it wonderful when one considers others are forgotten - no one gives a damn after they're gone - but we leave your "recorded memory." I'll read much more of your work. Love, daver
