Poetic Whispering of Dark, Calamitous Decrees

Poetic Whispering Of Dark, Calamitous Decrees Alas! Such as dark, as need to atone gashing curses of blackest dread, cold in heartache as frozen stone, is sad death of a love-life once bled! Behold! Life once sailed forth all alone with its shadows creeping behind, my how- deep miseries hath grown, into iron chains that so firmly bind! Aghast! I enter brilliant light now shone stand at eternity's first door, where hath divine mercy now flown, as I beg for forgiveness and much more! Lo! Why cometh this low grievous tone voiced in most damning decrees, that black shall eat my dying bones, as dark desires hath so well damned me! R.J. Lindley, October 23rd, 1979 Rhyme, ( As Poe Once Within Midnight Dreams So Spoke To Me ) (Birthed As A Tribute to Edgar Allen Poe)

Well penned Robert, a perfect tribute to Poe; a good length, to the point and dark.

Thank you my friend. I gather that you are very familiar with Poe and thus understand he was a tortured soul that happened to be immensely talented but not well understood during his life. Only in these many decades since his tragic death has enough information surfaced that paints him in a much kinder and just light. God bless..

Robert, Wonderfully told Rhyme from so long ago. Isn't it marvelous how we've come together in the present, from the persons we were back then? From the other's comments, it appears there is a common impression in your poem. The dark. I like Caren's 'dashingly dark!' comment. -Richard

Thank you my friend. I cut my poetic teeth on Poe and Byron-- yet it has always been far easier for me to write in Poe's dark style than in Byron's romantic style. Happy New Year, to you and yours......

Thank you my friend. I always did seem to ink my very best in tributes made to Edgar Allen Poe. This forty year old piece required very minor editing. As I only made two very minor changes.. God bless....

It is something I could have never written, but it is compelling, and dashingly dark! A curiously interesting read that delighted my dark side.

Thank you my friend. I dare to say I bet that you could if you put your heart, soul and poetic talent to such a task, and likely do it even better! That you have a poetic dark side is already a sign of depth of far deeper understanding that many do not have! God bless....

Oh, this is deliciously dark and dangerous, Roberto, and full of vivid images and classic phrasing that I love ... all those things lose me when they're overdone or not handled intelligently, but you've hit the mark here quite well, and this is going to my faves. Wonderful stuff, My Poet Brother - keep up the great work! :o) - G

Thank you my friend. Poetry has been a blessing to me. As I lived a youthful and very interesting and wild life as a young man. Once never thinking to live past age thirty, I cast caution to the winds and for a time feared(so foolishly), nothing on this earthen plain. This ancient poem reminded how blessed I am just to now still be alive!
