This is a poem written for a movement we held on instagram against AI and plagiarism! Unfortunately AI is winning, and there's no way we can truly identify these predators. But some can be seen clearly they use AI! Say no to plagiarism

Take AI’s verses and make them yours, fake wisdom through generated synonyms, stolen from the thesaurus of thieves. Maybe there are no pages for inkless minds that lack creativity, or maybe pigments in their ink have no stability. Originality comes from an authentic realm, so why become a poetic predator, stealing this pain, and claiming it as your own testimony of healing. Think twice when you confuse my silence as blindness. I can see through those soulless words, that hold no meaning nor insight. You influence me to question if your quill actually comprehends the depths of the metaphors I’ve woven. Poetry is not always defined by iambic pentameters, nor by syllables and insincere irony articulated as illusive imagery in your fabricated foolery, as every stanza is how a poet perceives the world, weaving words into artistic confessions. A poet’s heart is graphically bleeding upon the edges of a canvas, sketching sentiments in shades of scarlet and sangria, dipped in acute amaranth acrylic. You copy generated text on your virtual feed, finding opportunities to paraphrase someone else’s personal prose, yet remain ignorant to feel their aura from screens far away

Yes!!! You captured my feelings perfectly and beautifully. Your brilliance with words and creativity continues to dazzle me. It baffles me that people would care more about glory than the inspiration, joy, healing, and catharsis that comes from actually writing a poem.

You've definitely silenced those who are guilty of accusing without proof as well as those who are guilty of poaching the work's of others. You write from the heart in your own unique style. Words can be stolen but never their depth. You've always been one of my favourites on IG and on here and though I've been absent in reading and engaging, your words and their beauty and rawness have always struck a chord and a place in my heart. I came here and saw you left some questions for me. My school gave us a few links but I did not pay much attention to the links for detecting AI in essays. I teach only three short days a week and I will just use my own judgement. I have no time for figuring out links that have varying degrees of usefulness. yes, I am an ESL teacher. I would be retired from it, but private ESL does not pay well so I think I will be working until I die!

Sometimes I wonder what is real and what is not. It does take feeling within the heart and soul of the person poured out on the page to actually reach the heart and soul of another person. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for your kind review of my work. Sara

I know there is a big debate on the horrors of AI and much may be founded. Some will be affected more than others.. but microwaves were going to replace ovens, CDs vinyl and until auto-correct can sort it's sorry self out.. I feel protected (maybe in my naivety). I do believe in the human spirit, love and relationships and my hope is we will elevate our humanity, creativity and be better poets, appreciating authenticity over perfection. Love to all x

Both are great, i still dont know how to post picture here, also insta problem is; right now theres a glitch where we are all getting banned for commenting so its a bit too much: hopefully soon it gets sorted. And also theres too many hackers they target writing community. Smh. So im slow as i get over 70 comments sometimes on insta posts i feel too much pressure when i cant comment back: so taking it easy right now

Very excited to explore your poetry on there! :) I find the ability to add audio on PS beneficial though, especially now I can add images which was the plus with Insta. :)) I have met a few very inspirational people on here!

wow, this is so great. Also it's true an very sad. I think AI could never duplicate your original style. AI is affecting my profession as well. When my students write too perfectly, I am supposed to compare it to some webiste that catches AI , but it makes grading a big fat pain for ESL teachers

Absolutely it has become a huge problem, and it is considered as plagiarism. I didnt know you were a teacher, ah, thats good to know, also do you use a website to detect? Which website is it? Because most detectors too cant detect sometimes. There are apps used as detectors but they dont work perfectly too sometimes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts appreciate you kind soul

Your poem addresses an ever-growing problem. Truly poetic predators exist. I've actually had some of my work 'stolen' a couple of years ago. I agree....authenticity as a poet comes from originality. "Fake wisdom" isn't wisdom at all. Well said, Ink. I relate to y your words, your frustration, and anger. Beautiful Sara, you are one of my favourite poets here on soup because you are talented and original and i can see you are experienced, and having a growth mindset helps, some have fixed mindsets which stops them from growing learning and evolving. I love learning. I love reading articles on soup etc for this reason. And yes being plagiarised is not at all flattering. I get upset but also using AI in prompt contests is not nice, that is cheating. Not fair for those that actually pour their heart out. And as for new poet, what i mean is i didnt just appear out of thin air, but i have been around in other platforms and places just not on soup. Doesnt mean im not welcome here. You are amazing and i appreciate you so very much for being so supportive .thank you for sharing your thoughts too.

Quite brave of you to confront this problem head on, since you and your pals are some of the very ones being accused (ever so slyly) of using AI. I have to confess I wouldn't know the difference and I'm not sure I really care. Seems like just another attempt by some to be something other than what they actually are, which social media tends to lend itself to anyway. As for plagiarism, it's another issue altogether, and shame on those who feel the need to steal bc they have nothing of value to offer

, although i have to be politically correct and not call anyone out, but im against ai. And thats what my statement is about. I may have just joined soup because of instagram and its glitches hackers scammers etc that was draining led to my page disappearing, etc, doesnt mean i am a new poet. Im not. And im still learning as a poet and will always do! Thank u so much for ur sincere support always.

And there are two three friends i show my poems to befo i post, because sometimes i ramble, and i need honesty that i receive from silent one (unless for his contest) and subha and sara, i call subha and silent one my proofreaders, so yea, I honestly dont think anyone thats aware of ai and how it works would say that. But last few days iv noticed some poets using it and is what made me post this,

I dont think anyone that knows much about ai would slyly or in anyway say me and my friends use ai, as theres a certain pattern to ai generated poems, and if my poems were ai generated they will have perfect rhymes and will sound robotic. And as for my poems, i wouldnt call myself a prolific poet, but i got here because of the guidance from silent one, for more than two years, sometimes it bothered me too when i was told to make my poems flow or simplify, but i listened as im not perfect

That being said, I don't get too worked up about it. No one is paying me for my poems and I suppose in a twisted sort of way it's a compliment. No, I would certainly never advocate it, but I don't fret too much over it. I hope you have a wonderful week our inky empress

Woah my dear Ink, you've really confronted those plagiarists who feed upon our verses and use AI to complete their own essence.. They can steal our words but they can never steal our soul which has this forever talent of speaking through poesy! I too know many who inappropriately use AI and thus, their words lack humanly emotions.. It's really unfair and absolutely unjustified for us who really pour our feelings and experiences in whatever we write from our hearts.. This is just a phenomenal one

Thank you angelic star, yes and i know you write similarly too cus we think alike and also you’ve always said it openly when inspired by me on instagram, yes coincidentally too some words can be similar, some dont know the actual definition of plagiarism, we are talking about deliberately stealing exact lines owning them, not givin credit, and also ai which is used widely by pretend poets , for what? AI users are pretend poets, thats all i would say, why cheat? Especially as a prompt host for contests too on instagram this has become a problem as we cant really tell when its ai generated if the poems are short too. Unfortunately some dont even know the difference between ai generated poems and others, and they sit n discuss ai, iv attended few workshops online that raise awareness on ai generated poetry, so im a little aware and i know what im talking about when i talk about ai! However, it is what it is!

I agree with Silent One's comment that subconscious mistakes or using same words can happen a lot of time and it's coincidental.. Especially when people write in similar styles and liking... But one can tell whether the exact phrases have been copied and when it's done deliberately without giving credits to the original poet, then it's really unjustified.. I love this poem a lot, especially when you've faced such a situation of being plagiarized, it speaks so much.. But don't worry ink, you're always unique!! :)

I know you always say, I look for the good in people, well, I don't think it is fair to call someone a poetic predator.. I do not understand the whole AI thing, as being a true poet, I would not use such a thing, nor do I need to.. I think the majority do not.. Plagiarism is another thing, especially when it is the whole poem.. That is a true poetic crime.. There will be times when people use lyrics and lines that may seem as being copied, but I personally believe its an innocent mistake..

I agree Victor, does not bother me that someone has the same title as me. I have also seen people use words from my poems and it does not bother me.. as it could just be a coincidence, as we are all poets with a poetic mind. Being original is important though and trying to think and write differently to each poem, but I know that can be hard.

My point of view is there in my poem lol but I appreciate and respect your opinion silent one, iv been plagiarized many times and to see some even steal word to word my words and lines and own them without credit is not nice, also AI is a whole different level of plagiarism, it is more than a crime, a curse! Unfortunately! Poetic predators! Owning the throne of poetry! Sad fact! Yes sometimes we may sound alike but using another device to generate poems is totally wrong.

In regards to your poem it flows really well and the rhymes are great.. very clever word usage as always.. I do like the last two stanzas... I am sorry you have been plagiarised.. I know for a fact you do not use AI... On that point, AI detectors are not reliable either.. I think there is only one that is really accurate.. I forget the name.. I do not have the time to check if others have used it... as longs as they dont hurt anyone.. poetic blessings to all of the soup poetic community..

Unless there are those who deliberately copy then that is wrong.. IF someone does copy a lyric it is important to reference it and give credit to the author, I saw someone use the same title as one of my poems in theirs today, but I dont think they copied, I think it was a coincidence.. as it is with words, because we dont own words.. thats why they are recycled.. We do own poems and songs and when they are copied in full then there is the crime.

Ahhh! You have so eloquently and exquisitely woven the dark side of these soulless ones taking your/others words claiming it as their own! So sad..I wonder if they feel a sense of satisfaction and true accomplishment to steal another’s words..the words liked and commented on, are for the original poets and writers.
