Poetic Perfumery

O' poets switch off all senses but one
as you enter this arena of aroma
as I nose out the world's perfumes
to boost thy nasal stamina.

A dainty phial of perfume is indeed
a perfect and preferred present
It's the joy of the lady, the joy of the gent
A vial of perfume tis a gift lovely and fragrant
A gift of a whiff, for all to sniff
from scents sophisticated and pleasant.

He loves to revel in her lingering scent
treasuring it to form scented hints of sweet memory
It soon becomes his favorite fragrance
as he inhales in the imagined potpourri.

And she sashays trailing behind her a tantalizing trail
of her choicest elegant fragnances
As for 'Indian' me Im in love with sandalwood too
of sweet sillage and its unique nuances.

To extirpate the putrid and the pungent
comes in handy any pleasing spray of odorant.

Enhance the refreshing smells of the great ozone layer
with honey-suckle airfreshners for good-smelling air.

Sensual scents do well for sentient man
to satisfy his olfactory cells, to gratify his sense of smell
Wherever you may go, wherever you may be
It's trendy to leave that tell-tale perfume trail.

It's thanks to medieval Avicenna
we can extract fragrance from the flora
Extraction of essential oils from jasmines and rosewood
to expel and dispel any trace of miasma
with aromas of flowers such as freesia or mimosa.

Thus explore the enticing effect of extracted essence
Ooh luxuriate yourself in assorted floral fragrance.

And that lands us in the world of fragrant agarwood
of middle-eastern ittars or attars for aesthetic incense
to diffuse in your sacraments, the mystical frankincense
The strong nuances too of scents in enchanting oud
and thus enjoy the tenacity of entrancing fragrance!

And from dawn unto dusk
my favorite scent is that of musk
Its distinct and distinguished scent
has turned me into a fan so fervent.

As for a more occidental smell
my choice is sweet and refreshing lavender
while others prefer eau de cologne
or the intoxicating smell of ethyl and ester.

And for fragrant balms from balsams
explore the world of the heady stronger scents
No matter if they are mere synthetic blends
they're gorgeous infusions for your glamorous garments.

Modern or ancient times, the world's enthralled by fragrance
Be it western parfum or oriental patchouli
Ah, luxuriate yourself in the lingering hints of scents
as you explore the aromatic world of perfumery.

This is not meant to be a sales catalogue
It's only to present the perfumes in vogue.

So much for the world of perfumes compressed in a nutshell
All is well, pray God bless the sense of smell.

hi I really enjoyed this piece about fragrance beauty and smell. Very well put together. A different formatting too, I like it when it becomes unusual. Keeps people guessing. Good work Kevin

Although due to an error of formatting, this sequence of words becomes impressing in this way. Maybe we have discovered a new and modern way to write poems! Don't change the format, words are excellent and perfumed
